DOUGLAS LAING & CO ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF 2016 OLD PARTICULAR FEIS ILE BOTTLING

Leading independent Scotch whisky specialist, Douglas Laing & Co, has today announced the launch of its commemorative bottling for the 2016 Islay Festival (Feis Ile).

Douglas Laing & Co - Old Particular Bowmore Vintage 1999 (48.3% ABV) is limited to just 246 bottles and was charged from a single hogshead cask of Bowmore 16 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, which was distilled in September 1999 and bottled in March 2016.

This latest release from Douglas Laing’s Old Particular series, is said to deliver notes of sea salt, sweet smoke, summer fruits, brown sugar and vanilla custard on the nose. Followed by noes of flamed orange peel, cocoa, barbecued meat and old leather on the palate.

Commenting on the new release, Cara Laing, Director of Whisky at Douglas Laing & Co, said: “The purpose of this Old Particular Feis Ile special bottling is to bring a taste of Islay to those who can’t make the pilgrimage to the island. Bowmore Distillery is a personal favourite of mine and given its home is the capital of Islay, it made a lot of sense to select it for this commemorative release. We’ll be tasting this Single Cask at a number of our Feis events around the island and it’s an excellent example of an archetypal Islay Malt – maritime in style with leather and peat smoke.”

Last week, Douglas Laing & Co announced the release of the first ever Feis Ile Limited Edition for its Big Peat blended Scotch whisky series, as well as a partnership with Islay Ales to produce Big Peat’s Cask Matured Ale.

Douglas Laing & Co - Old Particular Bowmore Vintage 1999, will be available from specialist retailers next month for a RRP of £98.00.
