JEFFERSON'S BOURBON ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF TWO NEW LIMITED EDITIONS FOR THE UK

Jefferson’s Bourbon has announced that it’s expanding its range in the UK with the launch of two limited editions.

Jefferson's Groth Reserve (45.1% ABV) is a limited release bourbon that has been extra-matured for nine months in ex-Cabernet Sauvignon barrels from Napa Valley’s renowned Groth Vineyards. This ageing technique is said to give Jefferson's Groth Reserve its unique and robust characteristics.

Jefferson’s The Manhattan Barrel Finished Cocktail (34% ABV) was created by Jefferson’s founder Trey Zoeller in partnership with David Granger, Editor-in-Chief of Esquire magazine US. They spent two years and dozens of attempts refining the recipe: Jefferson’s Bourbon, dry and sweet vermouth and barrel-aged spiced cherry bitters.

Jefferson’s have also announced that the UK has been selected to host the world’s first ever Jefferson's competition for bartenders to create an original Jefferson’s Barrel Aged Cocktail.

Fifteen invited bartenders in the UK will compete. Six bartenders in the north of England will feature in the Northern Competition on 21 October at Bar 314 in Progress in Leeds. Original cocktails using Jefferson's Small Batch Bourbon will be judged after 45 days ageing in individual 5-litre oak barrels. Ten bartenders, including the winner from the Leeds competition, will then compete in the London competition in mid-November.

The overall winner will enjoy a trip to the home of Jefferson’s, Louisville USA, hosted by Trey Zoeller who is the founder and master blender of Jefferson’s Bourbon. The prize also includes a never-released bottling from Trey’s personal archive. The inspiration behind this Barrel Aged competition reflects the experimental proposition of one of the brand’s new limited edition bottlings which will be launched at the same time, Jefferson’s The Manhattan Barrel Finished Cocktail.

Commenting on the news, Katie Warren, Group Marketing Manager at Cellar Trends, the UK Distributer of Jefferson’s Bourbon, said: “Jefferson’s is well known for its experimental and adventurous approach to blending. We are excited to be working with 15 UK bartenders for the Jefferson’s Barrel Aged Cocktail Competition. At the same time, the launch of the two new limited editions will highlight Jefferson’s skill as one of the most innovative bourbon blenders. They deliver surprising new styles which have a creative edge in their production and will intrigue discerning drinkers. Further new launches will follow in 2016.”

Jefferson's Groth Reserve and Jefferson’s Manhattan Barrel Finished Cocktail, will both be available in the UK from specialist retailers next month for the respective RRP’s of £99.99 and £50.00.
