The Teeling Whisky Company has announced the appointment of former Diageo Reserve Brands Ambassador for Ireland, Kevin Hurley as its Global Brand Ambassador.

Kevin has worked in and managed some of Dublin City’s finest cocktail establishments including Clarendon CafĂ© Bar, Residence Members Club, The South William Urban Bar and The Liquor Rooms. Most notably, Kevin was involved in the conceptual development of The Liquor Rooms from the very outset, playing a major part in establishing its concept, direction, style and execution.

The Liquor Rooms is widely regarded as Ireland’s premier cocktail bar and late night venue and has won numerous industry accolades to solidify this standing in its relatively short time trading. Voted ‘Style Bar of the Year 2014’ by Licensing World, winner of 4 awards at the inaugural ‘Irish Craft Cocktail Awards 2014’ including ‘Best Cocktail Bar’ and ‘Best Bar Team’.

The Liquor Rooms also hold the honour of being the first bar ever from the Republic of Ireland to be shortlisted for an award at the prestigious, internationally renowned ‘Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards’ in 2014, in which they were nominated as ‘Best New International Cocktail Bar’. The success of The Liquor Rooms is founded on the education and commitment of its team and integral to this is the program of weekly trainings Kevin has developed and implemented during his time at the helm.

Commenting on the news, Kevin Hurley said: “I’m proud to be associated with an authentic Irish brand such as the Teeling Whiskey Company and I’m looking forward to contributing to the worldwide education of bartenders and consumers on the merits of Irish whiskey and its potential for use in cocktails.”

Kevin also spent a number of years working for Diageo as Mixologist and Reserve Brands Ambassador for Ireland. In this role, Kevin worked predominantly as a consultant Mixologist and Spirits Brands Ambassador. Kevin worked with Diageo clients in the conceptual and taste development of their cocktail offering, he was involved in educating the Diageo customer base on the company’s wide and varying brand portfolio.

More recently, Kevin was a co-founder of the hugely successful ‘Irish Craft Cocktail Awards’. These awards, first held in 2014, have been created for the benefit of the Irish cocktail industry by the cocktail industry. The awards aim to celebrate the skill, training, uniqueness and artistry of craft cocktail concoction in Ireland.

As Global Brand Ambassador for The Teeling Whiskey Company, Kevin will be in charge of the overall promotion through education of the Teeling portfolio of multi award-winning Irish Whiskeys.
